Database of Geoscience Higher Education Courses in Eastern and Southern Africa
To strengthen geoscience education and support sustainable development goals in eastern and southern Africa, Geology for Global Development has compiled a database of taught geoscience higher education courses. The database is published open access: we encourage its use and welcome additional data submissions to keep it up to date and complete.
This database compiles taught geoscience higher education courses available at universities in select countries in eastern and southern Africa, and includes short courses, certificates, diplomas, bachelor’s degrees, and master’s degree programmes. The database records course module details, course durations, and entry requirements. The cover note available below outlines the methodology and other details such as the list of countries included in the database.
We anticipate that this database could be of use to you to create positive impact. We hope you’ll get in touch to tell us how the database has been useful to you, and if you have valuable data to add.: Get in touch.
This project was supported by the International Union of Geological Sciences (IUGS) and the UNESCO/IUGS International Geoscience Programme Project 685 - Geoscience for Sustainable Development.
If you use or adapt these resources we’d love to hear from you. Tell us about your experiences, how and where are you using them? Your stories and feedback will help us to improve future resources, better serving the global geoscience community.
You may also wish to make a small donation to support our ongoing work to mobilise and equip geoscientists to help deliver the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
